a pdf of 1110 in zine form can be found here
the zine was accompanied by the following quote and statement:
“That monumental parking lot divided the city in half, turning it into a mirror and a reflection. One never knew what side of the mirror one was on. There was nothing interesting or even strange about that flat monument, yet it echoed a kind of cliché idea of infinity; perhaps the ‘secrets of the universe’ are just as pedestrian—not to say dreary.”
-Robert Smithson, A Tour of the Monuments of the Passaic, New Jersey
1110 casts its eye towards the mirror that is Business Loop 70, a thoroughfare littered with the reflections of the planned obsolescence of physical space. On the surface of this mirror, materials must adapt to their irrelevancy by bending, stretching, and breaking themselves in order to fulfill new roles. Photographing these phenomena with indiscriminate light renders them unable to dissapear into periphery. Reflections are everywhere, with this zine I hope to heighten your sensitivity to their multitude of forms.
